Erin's Isle Online Policy

The use of online tools for communications and social needs is widespread and the intention of our guidelines and policies are to make best use of such tools whilst protecting our younger members. For the purpose of this document younger members refers to any member that is currently 17 years of age or younger and guardian refers to the legal guardian of a younger member, who may or may not be a parent of that younger member.

For the most part, Erin's Isle will comply with, and expects all coaches, parents and members, to also comply with the social media guidelines already in place within the Camogie, LGFA and GAA organisations.

The information below is specific to Erin's Isle and should be complied with along with the general standards listed above.

  1. The club has invested in and standardised on ClubZap as a communication tool. This tool allows the club as well as coaches and mentors to communicate in an environment that can be monitored for child protection reasons. Please refer to the specific guidelines for the use of ClubZap below.

  2. The club does not support the use of Whatsapp for team communications and is phasing out its use and expects all coaches and managers to comply.

  3. Members will consent to their photographs being used on social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, when registering their membership each year. As well as this, guardians of younger members must be consulted with before images of their child are shared on social media sites or ClubZap.

  4. Video streaming is supported in very limited cases and extreme caution must be adhered to when recording games or training sessions for analysis or other purposes.

    1. Consent must be explicitly received from all guardians before any recording.

    2. Consent must be explicitly received from other clubs involved in the recording.

    3. Approval from the relevant Erin's Isle section secretary must be received before any recording has been made.

    4. The relevant secretary must receive approval from their county board before recording takes place.

    5. Videos recorded of younger members should not be shared online or through any messaging app and should be used only by relevant coaches for match analysis and stored on GAA's official onedrive and nowhere else. Coaches can present the video to their teams but cannot distribute then video.

  5. Coaches will comply with this guideline for online training sessions.

  6. If at any stage a guardian has an issue with either an image or video of their child that has been shared online they should request the video be removed in writing to childrensofficer.erinsisle.dublin@gaa.ie

Policy for the Use of ClubZap as a Communication Tool

ClubZap is the club's approved communication tool and should be used for all communications in place of texting/sms, whatsapp or any other messaging service. The below policy is designed to protect our younger members while using ClubZap.

  1. All users of ClubZap must be 18 years of age or over with no exception.

  2. General social media guidelines described above, with regard the appropriate use of the tool and the sharing of content, must be adhered to.

  3. Coaches that use chat groups to communicate with younger members must add their guardians and not the younger member directly.

  4. The club's children's officer will be an administrative member of ClubZap and automatically be a member of all chat groups and will monitor the usage accordingly.

  5. Coaches are not permitted to communicate individually via social media with underage players. Our club does not approve coaches engaging in or facilitating messaging apps in which players and coaches participate nor do we approve of the creation of messaging forums for younger players
