Garda Vetting Procedure

[Not sure if you are vetted, or if your vetting is up to date, check out this procedure to validate your vetting]

The Garda vetting process takes a number of weeks and involves multiple steps including club approval, GAA approval and the An Garda vetting. The process is fully managed using the Foireann system, which is the central membership system.

You are not able to coach or help with any team until this process has been completed and the club has been notified of a successfully completed vetting. Please note that this process must be completed every three years. If you do coach without completed vetting you are breaking the law and will be asked to step down. If you refuse to step down, this will be considered a reasonable concern and relevant authorities will be notified as per our reporting procedures.

Step 1

Register with Erin’s Isle as a coach using the coach intake form if you have not already done so this year. If you use the same name as you did on your vetting then you will get an email indicating your vetting status. vetting must be renewed every three years.

Step 2

[Please not that this step needs to be done 100% accurately or the application will be rejected and you will have to start again]

You must validate your identity before the vetting bureau will process your vetting application. To start with take a photo of a driver's license or passport and a bill (proof of address) that is no older than 6 months. Then you must download and complete the ID document from here,

All three documents must be uploaded as part of step 3 and not sent to the club.

Step 3

Make sure you have a Foireann account that is linked to your Erin's Isle GAA/LGFA/Camogie membership. If you have no Foireann acount please register at www.foireann.ie and follow the guide here. The Foireann app will guide you through the process and you will be able to review status too. Please do not begin coaching until you have been given the go ahead by the Children's Officer. Please note you will need to submit identification, which should include: a driver's license or passport plus proof of address no more than 6 months old as well as the ID document as explained in step 3.
